THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, Dec. 19, 1775

The ftpg. has an office from the British "War Office" noting: "...during the continuance of the rebellion now subsisting in North America, every person who shall enlist as a soldier...shall be entitled to his discharge at the end of three years or at the end of the said rebellion, at the option of his Majesty."
An inside page has much on the American successes in Canada, one report noting: "...that the fortress of Chamblee was taken the 18th...the garrison surrendered prisoners of war...Our troops were attacked at La Praire but the party who attacked them were defeated with much loss..." and another letter from St. John's includes: "I have the satisfaction to inform you that Fort Chamblee surrendered the 18th instant to Major Brown..." plus there is a letter from a soldier from St. John which begins: "I have the pleasure to inform you that I had the honour of marching into & taking possession of this fortress at the head of my company..." with lengthy particulars taking over a column (see). Also includes are the "Articles of capitulation proposed by Major Charles Preston..." noting all six articles (see). The bkpg. has some proceedings from Parliament which include praises for General Carlton in his efforts (see).
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 1/4 inches, very nice condition.
