THE ANTIOCH LEDGER, Contra Costa County, California, Jan. 8, 1876
* Rare Old West title
This is one of the oldest communities in California having been founded in 1850. It is in the East Bay region of San Francisco Bay, formerly known as Smith's Landing and Marsh's Landing, in 1850 a plague infested the city and wiped out most of the population.
Most of the front page is taken up with a great article on the greatness & future of California with first column heads: "Manifest Destiny Of California" "Candid and Practical View" "Phases Unparalleled In History" "Explorations on the Pacific Shores" "What Made California What It Is" "The Destiny of the Pacific States", concluded in a future issue.
Complete in 4 pages, never bound nor trimmed, a few discrete archival mends inside, very nice condition.
