This is the tri-weekly edition of this famous newspaper, which is perhaps the best newspaper to have with news on any Presidential election, being from the nation's capital.
Page 3 has a report headed: "Result of the Presidential Election" which gives the definitive report that Lincoln has formally won the election, noting that: "The whole number of Electors of President and Vice President of the United States...is 303, or whom 152 are a majority. The states, being sufficient to elect, which have decided that their electoral votes shall be cast for Abraham Lincoln, of Illinois, and Hannibal Hamlin, of Maine, are the following:..." and what follows is a chart showing 169 electoral votes for Lincoln, officially giving him the election. (see). This is followed by various other reports relating to the election (see for portions).
Other reports in this issue deal with possible secession from the Union by Southern states.
A great issue on Lincoln's election in perhaps the best newspaper to have this report being from Washington, D.C.
Complete in four pages, large folio size, some light damp staining at the top and a few spots to the front leaf, generally very nice condition. Folder size noted is for the issue folded in half.
