Great pair of issues:
RIMBA POST, Biak, N.E.I. (Netherlands East Antilles), March 11, 1945 Biak is a small island located just northwest of New Guinea. During World War II it was a strategic airfield of the Japanese Army serving as a base for operations in the Pacific theater. American forces eventually captured the island during the Battle of Biak in June of 1944. This newspaper was begun shortly after the American takeover and looks much like other crude, typewriter-set, small-size "camp" newspapers from World War II done on a mimeograph machine.
Front page banner headline: "Allied Military Machines Now Unified" which includes a nice war map as well. Measures 8 by 13 inches and in very nice condition.

NEW YORK TIMES, May 28, 1944 The front page reports on the beginning of the Battle of Biak with: "MacArthur Forces Land On Biak Island, Battle Foe 900 Miles From Philippines; Main Nazi Escape Route In Italy Shelled" which includes a map showing Biak & the New Guinea area (see). The complete issue, very ice condition.
