THE DETROIT FREE PRESS, Oct. 2, 1919
* Chicago White (Black) Sox
* Cincinnati Reds - World Series
* Black Sox Scandal in process
This issue reports on the first game of perhaps the most controversial World Series ever played, called the "Black Sox" series due to the betting scandal involving several of the Chicago White Sox players (see hyperlink for more details).
The first column of the ftpg. has: "Reds, Crushing Cicotte, Whip White Sox, 9-1" with several subheads (se). But the best coverage is on the sports section which has a banner headline: "Knocking Cicotte Off of Slab, Reds Win, 9 to 1, And Take 'Edge' in Series" with several other headlines as well plus photos of three of the players. A very nice graphic on the front page of the sports section.
Complete in 24 pages, a little margin wear, good condition.
