The front page has a 2 line banner head: "U.S. MISSILE SENT INTO OUTER SPACE, SAYS IKE" with related subheads. This was the American response to Russia's surprise launch of the Sputnik two months previous.
Curiously taken top billing on the ftpg. is: "Ingrid Agrees to Divorce" printed in red letters, plus much text and two related photos concerning Ingrid Bergman's pending divorce from director Roberto Rossellini.
