May 28, 1842

THE WEEKLY HERALD, New York, May 28, 1842  Page 3 contains a letter from Buffalo mentioning Charles Dickens' visit to America, noting: "...Mr. Charles dickens arrived here in the morning early, took breakfast, and then hastened down to Niagara without stopping to look at the Falls. He crossed the river..." with other details (see). The bottom of pg. 4 has a small report: "Assassination of the Governor of Missouri--the Mormons" including: "...a report...that Gov. Boggs was dead. It was supposed that the assassin was one of Joe Smith's followers & that he would be caught before he could reach Nauvoo..." with a bit more (see).
Four pages, small piece from a top margin affects nothing, good condition.
