THE CONTINENTAL JOURNAL & WEEKLY ADVERTISER, Boston, April 1, 1779
* General George Washington
* Pardon to deserters of his army
Most of the front page is taken up with several letters from the Caribbean concerning the exchange & care of prisoners. The balance of the ftpg. & a part of pg. 2 has: "Articles of Capitulation Agreed on Between General Grant and the Governor of St. Luce". Page 2 includes a treaty with all 15 articles concerning the position of France in terms of the navigation of neutral vessels during the Revolutionary War, signed in type: Louis. There is also an interesting document concerning how solders & officers will be compensated should they loose a limb in the course of their service (some text loss here from damage: see). War-related content continues to page 3 with a letter from Charleston, S.C. concerning events there, plus a very notable "Proclamation" by General Washington offers a: "...FULL PARDON to all those who shall rejoin their respective corps by the first of May next..." with other details, signed in type: G. Washington (see).
Four pages, some loss at the left side affects some text, never-trimmed margins, some staining and mild margin wear.
