NEW-YORK DAILY TRIBUNE, March 16, 1857  Page three carries a detailed report "The Canada Railroad Massacre" "Particulars From Eye-Witnesses" "Seventy-two Corpses Counted". This is reporting on the event of what is now referred to as the Great Western Rail disaster, of a train traveling from Toronto to Hamilton, Canada, which crashed through the suspension bridge as it was nearing Hamilton.
Page five has "The Dred Scott Decision" "Discussion in the Legislature of New-York". This is in response to the Supreme Court ruling handed down just ten days prior.
his is an interesting issue, and an opportunity for newspaper with an article written by Karl Marx the communists revolutionary would become more famous after his death than during his lifetime. Marx spent most of his life in exile, part of which was in London where he joined the Communist League. On page 6 a lengthy column headed: "The State Of Europe--from our own correspondent" "Parliamentary Debates On the Chinese Hostilities".
