A nice newspaper from the capital of the Confederacy. Among the front page items: "From Fredericksburg" "A Substitute Scheme Foiled" "Under Sentence of Death" for various military offenses; and other items.
The back page has a very lengthy editorial beginning: "The only news from Vicksburg comes through Northern sources, but it is very favourable to the Confederates. Every assault has been repelled easily & with considerable slaughter of the enemy..." Also: "Latest News From the North--Important; From Vicksburg--Grant's Army Repulsed With Immense Loss--Rumors of General Lee's Army Crossing the Potomac--Raising of Negro Regiments in the North" and more.
A single sheet newspaper with a full banner masthead, nice condition.
