May 25, 1863

DAILY RICHMOND EXAMINER, Virginia, May 25, 1863  A nice newspaper from the capital of the Confederacy. The front page includes: "From  Mississippi" "Fighting Joe Hooker at Chancellorsville" "Latest From the West--The Enemy Repulsed at Vicksburg--Reported Capture of Helena, Arkansas by General Price--Reinforcements at Vicksburg" "Arrest of an Alleged Spy" and more.
The back page has a lengthy editorial beginning: "All that can be considered as certain in the confused jargon of the telegram from Jackson is that two point of the land defense at Vicksburg have been assaulted & that the assaults were repulsed....Only Treachery or cowardice could explain the capture of Vicksburg by sudden assault...". Also: "Very Latest From the North--Movements in the West--Vallandigham Certainly sent to Fort Warren...".
A single sheet issue with a full banner masthead, very nice condition.
