A nice newspaper from the capital of the Confederacy. The front page includes: "From Northern Virginia" "The Movements In Kentucky" "Our Importations--Trading With the Yankees" "Treatment of Returned Prisoners" "Notes of the War" which has many subheads; "The Virginia State Line" and more.
The back page begins with a very lengthy editorial which begins with a rare admission of failure: "It can no longer be concealed that the campaign in the West has proved a failure...That the disappointment of southern expectations is due to the want of generalship in the West is perfectly clear...". Also: "The Battle of Perryville--General Bragg's Official Report" which is detailed & signed in type: Braxton Bragg. Also: "The Battles Around Richmond" which takes over 2 columns.
A single sheet issue with a full column masthead, bit close-trimmed near the top of the spine affects no text, very nice condition.
