PENNSYLVANIA PACKET & DAILY ADVERTISER, Philadelphia Sept. 26, 1788

* re. 1st President of the United States election

Page 2 has a report from New York of the launch of a ship: "Yesterday was launched at the Ship Yards, the beautiful ship America, intended for the East India grade, commanded by Capt. Jacob Sarley..." with more on it. Close to half of pg. 2 is taken up with an Act from the Penna. General Assembly: "An ACT directing the times, places and manner of holding elections for Representatives of this state in the Federal Government of the United States, and of appointing electors...or the choice of a President...agreeably to the Federal Constitution." This is quite lengthy & very detailed on the election and voting process, one bit noting: "...after the polls in the several districts shall be closed, and the votes of the electors cast up...the names of the several persons voted for...shall be written on parchment...(and) transmit the same...to the Secretary of the United States in Congress Assembled..." with much more.
Four pages, never-trimmed margin, great condition.
