Page 2 contains a significant document in the history of the Civil War, being the: "Proclamation of the Independence of South Carolina". This is the formal document whereby S.C. left the Union, the first state to do so, noting in part: "...have thereby dissolved the Union between the state o South Carolina and other states under the name of the United States of America..." signed in type by the governor: F. W. Pickens.
Page 4 has an interesting editorial headed: "The Folly of Disunion". Eight pages, nice condition
