February 21, 1972

AKRON BEACON JOURNAL, Akron, Ohio, February 21, 1972 (front leaf only)

The front page tells of President Richard M. Nixon's historic trip to The People's Republic of China, an important step in normalizing relations between the U.S. and the PRC - breaking 25 years of separation. The impact of this visit cannot be overestimated. The 2-line, 6-column headline states: "Nixon Urges Chinese Hosts: 'Let's March Together'", with subheads: "Meets With Both Mao And Chou" and "Chinese Welcome Polite But Cool". Below the main heading is the historic photo of President Nixon and Premier Chou En-lai. Also included is a vertical sequence of Chinese characters which translate: "NIXON IN CHINA."
Only the front leaf is present, but is in very good condition. Some of the articles are continued on inside pages which are not present, but the coverage is quite displayable.
