THE GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London, August, 1792  One of the features of this issue is a facsimile plate of an answer by Oliver Cromwell to the East India Merchants in 1657, and of the handwriting of the several petitioners (see). Another plate shows a beautiful view of Hanbury Church in Staffordshire.
Near the back is news headed: "America" which is mostly concerning Canada, including: "A general meeting of the friends of the Constitution took place...and 12 gentlemen were appointed to act as managers to observe a decorum & preserve harmony..." with more (see) Also an item datelined "New York mentions: "A complete overthrow has lately been given to a numerous body of Indians..." and another item notes: "A dangerous insurrection has commenced among the Negroes on the Eastern shore of Virginia...the amount of 500...armed with muskets, spears, clubs & committed several outrages upon the inhabitants." (see)
Both plates called for are present (see above).
Complete in 96 pages, full title/contents page with an engraving of St. John's Gate, 5 by 8 inches, nice condition.

This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907.
