October 18, 1942

THE NEW YORK TIMES, October 18, 1942

* Howard Wash, Laurel, Mississippi lynching
* Great World War II coverage

Page 49 has one column headings that include: "MISSISSIPPI MOB LYNCHES A SLAYER" "Overpowers Sheriff and Takes Negro Convicted Friday to Bridge on Victim's Farm" and more. (see) First report coverage on the lynching of negro Howard Wash in Laurel, Mississippi.  I suspect this is one of the few publications to report this particular event as other titles in our inventory do not.
Other news of the day with much on World War II. Complete 1st section with all 56 pages, rag edition in nice condition.
