GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London, August, 1788  Among the articles are: "Ireland Vindicated from a Hasty Charge of Cruelty & Credulity", some questions and answers regarding Negro slaves (see); and much more.
Near the back is a rather detailed account headed: "Grand Federal Procession" at Philadelphia, being the celebration of the Declaration of Independence and the establishment of the Constitution (see).
Included are both of the full page plates called for.
Complete in 96 pages, full title/contents page with an engraving of St. John's Gate, 5 by 8 1/4 inches, great condition.

This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907.
