THE WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, Oct. 17, 1812  An inside page contains the: "British Account" of the significant War of 1812 naval battle between the Constitution and the Guerriere, containing much detail and taking over half of the page. Much more on the War of 1812 with: "Militia General Orders" signed by: Wm. C. C. Claiborne; "American Prizes" "The Southern Frontier" and a general heading: "Events of the War". Pages 1-3 contain the first portion of the Constitution of the state of New Hampshire.
There is also: "A Proclamation" signed by the President: James Madison, concerning deserters from the U.S. army, and articles headed: "North Western Country" "Friendly Indians" "The Indians" and more.
Sixteen pages, measures 6 1/4 by 9 3/4 inches with lite scattered foxing, otherwise is in good condition.
This small size newspaper began in 1811 and was a prime source for national political news of the first half of the 19th century. As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
