Item # 628282 THE MASSACHUSETTS MAGAZINE, Boston, July, 1791   The bulk of the issue is taken up with a wide range of eclectic articles as noted on the full title/contents page. A few include: "Thoughts on the Decay of States" "Character of the Virginians" "Description of Gray's Gardens, Pennsylvania" "Shorts Account of the Life & Character of Thomas Hutchins, late Geographer General of the U.S." "The Extravagant Wife: An American Tale" "Preservatives Against the Fatal Effects of Drinking Cold Water in Warm Weather" & much more.
Near the back are: "Proceedings of the State Legislature" which includes an address to the Mass. Congress signed in type: John Hancock (see). Also the "Domesstick Chronicle" with news of the day, by state (see) including mention of Washington, and also: "The President has put a finishing hand to the location of the Federal City. the buildings for the legislature are to be placed on Jenkin's hill, about two miles from Rock Creek...the houses for the President & the great officers of states, to be situated on the rising ground adjoining Hamburgh within one mile of Georgetown, and about one & a quarter from the houses of Legislation. It is said that the President's arrangement gave universal satisfaction to the most interested." Various reports on the celebration of the 4th of July.
Complete in 64 pages, full title/contents page, lacking the plate called for, very nice condition.

Eighteenth century American magazines are increasingly scarce in today's market. This title was published  by the famed Isaiah Thomas, the patriot printer from the Revolutionary War & founder of the American Antiquarian Society.
