THE MASSACHUSETTS MAGAZINE, Boston, March, 1794

* Thomas Jefferson
* George Rogers Clark

The bulk of the issue is taken up with a wide range of eclectic articles as noted on the full title/contents page. A few include: "Description of the Great Pyramid in Egypt" "Customs & Opinions of the Moors" "Voluntary Sacrifice of an Indian Warrior for his Son" "Thoughts on War" and so much more.
Near the back is the "Monthly Gazette' with the latest news reports of the day & which includes: "A report has been in circulation lately that Gen. Clark has gone down the Mississippi with 2000 men on an expedition against New Orleans..." and also: "A List of American Vessels Captured by the Algernines in October & November, 1793". Under appointments is: "...that the Hon. Mr. Jefferson, late Secretary of State, will succeed Mr. Morris as the Ambassador of the United States to the Republic of France". Also much: "From the Western Army".
Complete in 64 pages, full title/contents page, lacking the plate called for, some foxing to the front & back leaves only, minimal margin chipping, generally very nice condition.

Eighteenth century American magazines are increasingly scarce in today's market. This title was published by the famed Isaiah Thomas, the patriot printer from the Revolutionary War & founder of the American Antiquarian Society.
