* Very early Missouri Territory

The middle column of the front page is taken up with a fine article headed: "Missouri Country" which is a letter from St. Louis to a friend back east in which he describes the Missouri area under several topics; climate, production of land;timber, conveyance to market, health, produce of later (noted: "A negro fellow will hire for 15 dollars per month..."), price of foreign goods, and ending with: "...Our country abounds with coal, salt, iron, led and copper. We want nothing but capital and population to make it the garden of the west." (see).
Four pages, nice condition.
