November 03, 1768

THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, Nov. 3, 1768  Inside has a report that Governor Francis Bernard of Mass. published a proclamation concerning the sale of land on the Penobscot River, which he disputes (see). This is followed by a letter from North Carolina noting in part: "Our trade, as indeed likewise that of all the British colonies in America, is at present in a deplorable condition...the back inhabitants are all in arms, determined to lose their lives by the sword rather than estates for taxes..." with more on what was known as the "War of the Regulation" in the Carolinas (see hyperlink for more).
Eight pages, 8 1/4 by 11 inches, very nice condition.
