June 01, 1864

NEW YORK TIMES, June 1, 1864

* Battle of Cold Harbor
* Ulysses S. Grant vs. Robert E. Lee
* Large FULL PAGE map of Virginia

The front page has some very nice first column heads including: "GRANT'S ARMY" "Fighting Renewed" "Warren's Corps Attacked on Monday" "The Rebels Promptly Repulsed" "Seven Miles To Richmond" "Indications that Lee is Falling Back" "Important From Gen. Butler" and also on the ftpg: "Gen. Sherman's Army--Occupation of Dallas", Georgia.
But the prime feature of this issue is actually the single sheet "Supplement" which is attached with the entire front page taken up with a huge & terrific map headed: "GRANT'S GREAT CAMPAIGN---THE APPROACHES TO RICHMOND. Map Of The Country Within Thirty Miles Of The Rebel Capital." (see).
A terrific display issue, complete in 10 pages, nice condition.
