Huge foldout, color print of the "Falls of Niagara"...
Item # 627739
August 25, 1860
THE ILLUSTRATED LONDON NEWS, England, Aug. 25, 1860
* Great Niagara Falls illustration
Certainly the prime piece with this issue is the excellent, very large, and colorful foldout "Supplement" print captioned: "The Falls Of Niagara" which folds out to measure 23 1/2 by 34 1/2 inches.
When this issue becomes available this beautiful print is typically missing, having been removed years ago. But not only is this print present, it is in relative nice condition. Due to its size it is often damaged when found, but this print is not. There are a few small & discrete "scuff" marks in the bottom portion of the print, not distracting. There is off-setting in the margins from having been folded within itself for over 140 years. A nice piece to frame & display, with the date at the top: "August 25, 1860".
The regular issue accompanies this print as well, which includes on the ftpg. a print: "Niagara Falls Village: The Rapids Above the American Falls...". There is also another halfpg. print: "The Niagara Above the Falls" (see) and two more prints on the back page (see). There is a related article on the falls as well (see for the beginning).
Also in the issue is a nice fullpg. print: "View From the King's Bastion, Quebec, The Isle of Orleans in the Distance" (see) plus a great foldout double page centerfold showing: "Views of The City of Montreal, Canada East" (see).
Complete in 24 pages, excellent condition.
