May 22, 1847

THE FLORIDIAN, Tallahassee, Florida, May 22, 1847  Nineteenth century newspapers from Florida are uncommon, particularly those from before the Civil War. Here is such an issue from the capital city of Florida, six years before the Civil War. Over half of the ftpg. is taken up with reports from Congress including several Acts, Proclamations and Resolutions as well as "Treaties" which includes one with France. Also on the front page: "Cities & Towns Between Vera Cruz & Mexico" and "Later From Monterey" with reports on the ongoing Mexican War. Much more on the Mexican War on pgs. 2 & 3 with: "Later From Mexico--Plan of Campaign--Guerrilla War--Santa Anna..." and more.
The back page is taken up with ads. Four pages, generally nice condition.
