January 18, 1776

THE CONNECTICUT JOURNAL, New Haven, Jan. 18, 1776  The entire ftpg. is taken up with lengthy reports from the House of Peers which includes talk on the situation in America. One bit notes: "...candidly owned they had been misinformed last year & that their measures were consequently founded in error & had therefore failed of success...pointed out the false policy of continuing the dispute with the Colonies, and urged administration to stop the further ravages of fire and sword..." and more.
Page 3 has a report from Cambridge concerning a military action noting: "...Major Knowlton was dispatched with 100 men to make an incursion into Charlestown. He crossed the Mill Dam which lays between Cobble Hill & Bunker's Hill...proceeded down the street on the easterly side of Bunker's Hill.." with much more (see). This is followed by 1 more letters with battle-related reports (see). Nice war content continues on the back page as well.
Four pages, loss to the bottom right margin causes text loss but not to any specifically mentioned reports (some loss to a a letter headed "New York: see). A few minor archival mends.
