Beginning on the ftpg. and taking most of pg. 2 is: "Naval Court Martial" being the details of the court martial of William Sitgreaves Cox against whom four charges were set: cowardice, disobedience of orders, desertion from his quarters & neglect of duty, and unofficer-like conduct, for his involvement in the battle of the Chesapeake & Shannon. Included are the sentences for each charge (see for portions).
Also in this issue: "Depredations of the Enemy" 'From the Mobile" "British Account of Their Loss at Sandy Creek" "American Prisoners" "The American frigate President Equal to a British 74 and Frigate!" "Launch of the Seventy-four", the latter being the launch of the U.S. S. Independence. More reports on the back page as well.
Four pages, 9 3/4 by 12 1/4 in., never-trimmed margins, very nice, clean condition.
This is a fascinating, short-lived newspaper, having begun in 1812 with the exclusive purpose of reporting on the War of 1812 (hence the title). When the war ended, so did this newspaper.
