Beginning on the ftpg. & concluding on pg. 2 is: "Capture of York - Brigade Order" which is signed in type: Z.M. Pike, who died during the battle. Also inside; "The Enemy Defeated" which is a letter concerning from Sacket's Harbor signed: Jacob Brown; "Extract of a Letter from an Officer, dated Sacket's Harbor" "FORT GEORGE TAKEN!" which is a detailed, full-column letter signed: James Preston; "Capture of Fort Erie" "Com. Decatur's Squadron" and more.
Four pages, 9 3/4 by 12 1/4 in., never-trimmed margins, very nice, clean condition.
This is a fascinating, short-lived newspaper, having begun in 1812 with the exclusive purpose of reporting on the War of 1812 (hence the title). When the war ended, so did this newspaper.
