The American Wasp captures the British ship Frolic...

Item # 626386

November 28, 1812

THE WAR, New York, Nov. 28, 1812  The entire front page & half of pg. 2 are taken up with: "Affairs With Great Britain". Page 3 has a nice account of the naval battle between the: "Wasp And Frolic", a victory for the Americans (see the web for more). Over half of the back page is taken up with a very detailed letter datelined: "Sackett's Harbor", signed in type: Isaac Chauncey. Also a shorter letter from Sackett's Harbor (see).
Four pages, 9 3/4 by 12 1/4 in., never-trimmed margins, very nice, clean condition.

This is a fascinating, short-lived newspaper, having begun in 1812 with the exclusive purpose of reporting on the War of 1812 (hence the title). When the war ended, so did this newspaper.

Item from Catalog 267 (released for February, 2018)...
