CONNECTICUT JOURNAL & NEW HAVEN POST-BOY, April 8, 1774

* Pre Revolutionary War
* Tea troubles in Boston

Page 3 has a brief item from London noting: "Three Men of War are ordered to be immediately in readiness to sail to Boston and exact payment for the Tea."  This is followed by reports from New York including mention of the arrival from England of troops at Castle William near Boston. Another item reports: "It is pretty certain...that the India company have applied to administration to adopt some measures for obtaining satisfaction for the tea sent to this country..." and further on is: "Capt. Jones purchased tea at Albany last winter, not subjects to a duty, & had retailed it out, which is said to be the cause of this resentment against him."
More content on the back page including an item from Boston noting in part: "...a channel established by an act of the British Parliament for the express purpose of raising a revenue here, & under the absolute control of the British minister...highly dangerous..." and more (see). Also an item concerning the controversy of land ownership between Connecticut & Penna: "...reported that the Wyoming Meadows on Susquehannah River, where our people are generally settled, lye south of the latitude of this Colony..." with more. Very nice illustrated rifle ad (see).
Four pages, never-trimmed margins, handsome engraving in the masthead, very nice condition.
