July 18, 1812

THE WAR, New York, July 18, 1812

* Printed exclusively to report on the War of 1812

Most of the front page has continuing reports from Congress including some discussion of the Act declaring war against England. Inside pages have various items relating to the war, plus; "Selected Toasts Drank on the Fourth of July, 1812" (see for some). The back page has: "Privateering" and other war-related items.
Four pages, 9 3/4 by 12 1/4 in., never-trimmed margins, very nice, clean condition.

This is a fascinating, short-lived newspaper, having begun in 1812 with the exclusive purpose of reporting on the War of 1812 (hence the title). When the war ended, so did this newspaper.
