March 04, 1774

CONNECTICUT JOURNAL & NEW HAVEN POST-BOY, March 4, 1774  Two-thirds of page 2 are taken up with a report from Charleston beginning: "...we have had several alarming accounts of hostilities committed by the Creek Indians against his Majesty's subjects in the province of Georgia..." with much detail. Pg. 2 also has an item from Falmouth, Mass: "Many people being apprehensive that there will be a difficulty in preventing some individual persons from selling Tea, even though this town should vote against it...you need not doubt of your Resolutions being carried into execution, for we whose names are hereunto subscribed will engage that no person in this town, great or small, rich or poor, shall date to counteract your laudable designs..." followed by fictitious names, who are the "Committee for Tarring and Feathering." Page 3 has a report from North Carolina: "The persons who on their journey from this province to Pittsylvania (the new colony on the Ohio) were attacked in their encampment...and murdered by the Indians, were a son & negro of Capt. Russel, and a son of Daniel Boon, of Rowan;..." and others (see). Rare mention of a son of the famous Daniel Boone.
Four pages, never bound nor trimmed, handsome engraving in the masthead, several archival mends near margins and the spine, wide margins are irregular at spots.
