September 06, 1728

THE POST BOY, London, Sept. 6, 1728

* Rare & early 18th century issue
* Nice masthead engravings

Simply a beautiful issue of this handsome newspaper, with both engravings in the masthead apparently being early strikes as they are very sharp & clean (see), along with the engraving of the first letter of the text.
The ftpg. has an item noting in part: "The peace between this Republick and the Algerines was a very knotty piece of work; the inhabitants of that pyratical place being almost to a man against it, & complaining to the government that since their last peace with Holland, they had hardly taken a prize so they must of course be impoverished..." (see). The back page has an interesting & quite detailed account of recent deaths in London (see).
Single sheet, 8 1/2 by 14 inches, wide margins, very nice condition. Full red tax stamp on the reverse.
