October 31, 1881

ST. LOUIS GLOBE-DEMOCRAT, Missouri, Oct. 31, 1881

* re. the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral
* Younger Brothers - American outlaws

The ftpg. has: "Stock Thieves" datelined from Wilcox, Arizona, and mentions: "...south of Fort Bowie supplying the principal trade in Tombstone, reports that he has been compelled to suspend business on account of a raid by cowboys who stole nearly all his stock. The civil authorities seems powerless to cope with this gang...". Could be reference to events surrounding the famed gunfight at the OK Corral as the letter is datelined Oct. 29 and the gunfight happened 3 days earlier.
The top of pg. 5 has column heads: "The Younger Brothers" "An Appeal Being Made for Executive Clemency" "Members of Their Family Believe that the Ends of Justice Have Been Subserved--Endeavor to Obtain a Pardon--Further Facts in the Case".
Ten pages, nice condition.
