Page 3 has a brief note announcing the death of Gershom Mendes Seixas: "DIED" "This morning of a lingering illness, in the 71st year of his age, and 50th of his ministry, the Rev. Geishour Seixas, of the Jewish Congregation of this city." Seixas was the first native-born Jewish minister in the United States and the first American Jewish clergyman to give a sermon in English.
