It has a prefacing note which includes: "...letter from St. Helena describing the behavior of Bonaparte since his arrival there with a minuteness and accuracy which renders his communication unquestionably the best...delighted to learn that Bonaparte has at length begun to feel a small portion of those privations & sufferings which, in the course of his famous & wicked life, he has wantonly heaped upon millions!"
