Page 2 has a very interesting and uncommon account of a battle with the Indians from before the Civil War, headed: "From The Plains" with a prefacing note including: "...Lt. Love's command, gives a more particular account...yet seen of Lt. Love's engagement with the Indians...". The letter is headed: "Camp on Battle Ground, Arkansas River, 1st July, 1847 and takes over half a column with considerable detail. This is called "Lt. Love's Defeat" & occurred 9 miles west of Garfield, Kansas. See the hyperlink for much more on it.
Page 3 has reports on the Mexican War with: "Letter From Vera Cruz" "From Tampico" "Authentic Report of the Expedition of Col. DeRussy to Huejutla" & "From the Rio Grande" all taking over a full column.
Four pages, very light damp staining, nice condition.
