Among the front page column heads are some on the historic battle of Shiloh, or Pittsburg Landing: "The Battle of Pittsburgh" "Our Loss 7000 Including 2000 Taken Prisoners' "Terrible & Disastrous Defeat of the Rebels". Also: "Acknowledgment of Offers of Assistance for the Wounded in the Great Battle' "The Bill Abolishing Slavery in the District of Columbia Passed in the House" "The Rebel Steamer Merrimac Again in the Roads" "Steady Progress pf our Army on the Peninsula" and more.
