* USS Ohio launching - United States Navy
* African slave trade - slavers ships captured


The front page has: "The Infamous Trade" beginning: "Ten slave vessels had been captured by the U.S. ship Cyane..." with some details (see). Most of the issue is taken up with: ":Mr. Baldwin's Speech on the Tariff". The back page has a brief item beginning: "The U.S. ship of the line 'Ohio' was launched at New York on Tuesday last...She glided into the water in a majestic stile and no accident occurred..." (see).
Sixteen pages, 6 by 9 1/4 inches, nice condition.

As noted in Wikipedia: "Niles edited and published the Weekly Register until 1836, making it into one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States and himself into one of the most influential journalists of his day. Devoted primarily to politics, Niles' Weekly Register is considered an important source for the history of the period."
