THE WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, Dec. 26, 1812 The front page (and page 2) are taken up with the continuation of the: "Naval Establishment" which includes a chart of the: "Ships of rhe United States Navy, 1798, 1799". Also inside: "Yazoo Deposit - Executive Dept. of Georgia; "The Catacombs of Paris" and a section headed: "Events of the War" which takes over 7 pages. Among the subheads are: "Military"; letters signed by Alexander Smyth, Peter Porter, Samuel Hopkins, George Prevost, Isaac Brock & James Porter; "Naval" "Naval Promotions" "American Prizes" and more.
Additional articles include "Our Gallant Tars" "Our 'Fir-Built' Frigates" and 'The Constitution and Guerriere".
Sixteen pages, 6 by 9 1/2 inches, bit of foxing, nice condition.
This newspaper began in 1811 and was a prime source for national political news of the first half of the 19th century. As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
