THE CHRISTIAN SCIENCE MONITOR, Boston, December 8, 1937
* Ted Williams acquired by the Boston Red Sox
* Very early mention prior to his MLB baseball debut
* Great to have in a hometown newspaper title
This newspaper has a somewhat discrete but extremely early report in the sport's section (page 11) on the Boston Red Sox acquiring a young 19 year old by the name of Ted Williams. Near the bottom of the page under the heading: "Major Leagues Stick to Their Respective Balls" with text that begins with: "The Boston Red Sox, who did quite a bit of business here and at Milwaukee, landed a very promising recruit last night by buying Ted Williams, 19-year-old outfielder...." Rare to have such a early report on this famous baseball player as his Major League debut would not be for another year and a half. Great to have in a Boston newspaper.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in 16 pages, nice condition.
