GAZETTE OF THE UNITED STATES, Philadelphia, Feb. 14, 1795 This city was the capital of the United States at the time, while the District of Columbia was under construction. Page 2 has a very rousing & patriotic letter noting in part: "America is the last great hope of the patriots and philosophers of every civilized nation in the world...The eyes of the world are upon us. We are to be the glory & consummation of human wisdom & felicity...Emperors, Kings, and aristocrats view us with a malignant eye. They watch our motions--glory in our dissensions..." and much more.
Four pages, never bound nor trimmed with very wide margins, great condition.
