January 25, 1896

SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN, New York, January 25, 1896 The front page has four illustrations showing different parts of "The Niagara Falls Power Plant". An inside page has greater than a full column of text dedicated to the power plant, including the Tesla generators, manufactured by Westinghouse.  Considerable details are present.
Also in the issue is "Professor Routgen's Wonderful Discovery". "...By the use of a radiant state of matter tube, a Crookes tube, it is stated that he has succeeded in obtaining photographic effects through opaque objects..." This was the discovery of the x-ray even though that terminology is not used in the article.
Inside the issue is "Skeie's Riveting Machine"; "Hydraulic Shield Used in the St. Clair River Tunnel"; "The Daimler Side Wheel Launch Priscilla"; "The Leamy Revolving Trapeze at the Olympia Music Hall"; and additional illustrations, articles and advertisements.
Complete in 16 pages with several tiny binding holes along the left spine, otherwise is in nice condition.
