March 07, 1680

THE LONDON GAZETTE, England, March 7, 1680

* Earliest of newspapers to be had
* Early American plantations trade

The entire front page is taken up with a document from the King concerning the encouragement of trade with the plantations in America. The top of the page begins: "His Majesty having been pleased to make an Order in Council to Encourage the Plantation Trade..." with the document beginning: "Whereas since the expiration of the Act of Parliament...entitled, An Act for Regulating the Plantation Trade..." with much more. Very rare to find any 17th century newspaper with the entire front page devoted to an America-themed document.
Single sheet newspaper, 7 by 11 inches, very nice condition.
