NILES' NATIONAL REGISTER, Baltimore, Maryland, Sept. 1, 1832  An inside page has: "Affairs With the Indians" takes over a full page and has much detail on what was known as the Battle of Bad Axe, or the Bad Axe Massacre. This was the final battle of the Black Hawk War, marking the end of the war between settlers and the Sauk and Fox tribes under Chief Black Hawk (photos show only portions).
Among other items in this issue are: "Progress of the Cholera" with several charts; "Letter from Gen. Washington, signed: G. Washington, from 1780; "Dinner In Oglethorpe, Georgia"; a notice from famed Jewish publisher signed: M.M, Noah, regarding him leaving the newspaper 'Courier & Enquirer". He is noted as the first Jew born in the United States to rise to national prominence.
Sixteen pages, 6 1/4 by 9 1/2 inches, a little very lite scattered foxing, otherwise is in very good condition.

This small size newspaper began in 1811 and was a prime source for national political news of the first half of the 19th century. As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
