THE CONNECTICUT JOURNAL, New Haven, May 8, 1783  The entire front page is a report from the "House of Commons which includes much reflection upon the Revolutionary War, beginning with: "Mr. Thomas Pitt opened the debate in declaring to the House that it was with a mixture of pain & pleasure that he at length saw the day arrive, so long wished for, which, putting a period to a ruinous war, restored to the British empire the blessings of peace..." with much more (see for portions).
Page two continues with discussions in the "House of Commons" which includes five motions regarding America, including: "That his Majesty, considering the circumstances of the times, acted right in granting independence to the Thirteen United States of America."
Page 2 also includes an item from Paris beginning: "Mr. Benjamin Franklin having drawn out the accounts of the united states of America...It appears, it is said, that North America owes to France eighty millions."
Page 3 has much content concerning opening trading agreements with the United States, and the back page is filled with ads.
Complete in four pages, never bound not trimmed, 9 1/2 by 14 1/2 inches, rubbing near the center of the central fold causes a small hole which affects some words, light water staining.
