* re. End of the Revolutionary War
A strikingly beautiful masthead with the large & ornate masthead (see). The first column has 2 detail ads for runaway slaves. Page 2 has a report from St. Augustine, Florida, noting: "Whereas, by the third article of the preliminaries of peace with Spain, this province is to be ceded to his most Catholic Majesty...that the inhabitants will lose no time in settling their affairs & preparing to fulfill, as far as depends upon them, the terms of the said article." (see) Another item notes...expresses great uneasiness at the delay of the definitive treaty and the evacuation of New York...". An item from Springfield notes: "About 7 or 800 of the troops have passed through this town...on their way to their respective homes; the uncommon good order, decency & civility of behaviour which they have as yet observed during their march does them great honour." Also: "...a committee from the Board of American Loyalists,having waited upon is Majesty's ministers on the subject of the proscriptions, confiscations and losses sustained by them & their fellow sufferers under this description in America, were assured that a bill should be brought...for their relief...".
Additionally, a report is headed: "Notice To Loyalists" can be seen in the photo. There are additional items concerning the end of the war and the settling of affairs between American & England, etc.
Four pages, just slightly irregular at the blank spine, in very nice, clean condition. A very displayable newspaper.
