THE PHENIX; OR, WINDHAM HERALD, Windham, Connecticut, May 19, 1797
* Uncommon title with nice masthead
A very uncommon title that has an engraving in the masthead of the legendary phenix (or phoenix) consumed in fire and rising from the ashes.
Notable content on the front page includes: "French Executive Directory" "New Decree against the United States." On page 2 under "Hartford" are names of the gentlemen elected in the "Annual Election" of the state of Connecticut., followed by the speech of Governor Walcott to the Legislature. Page 3 has news from Charleston, New York, Portsmouth & Boston.
Four pages, a page 4 mend near the spine, very nice condition.
