Tennessee was the last state to join the Confederacy, and shortly thereafter Nashville became a target of Union forces. By the beginning of March, 1862 Nashville became the first Confederate state capital to fall to the Yankee troops. See the hyperlink for much more on the interesting history of this newspaper.
The front page is mostly taken up with: "England & America -- Mr. Bright's Great Speech--He Defends & Upholds the North". Also: "Railroads Now Open to the Rebels". Inside includes a lengthy letter to Congress signed in type by the President: A. Lincoln. Also: "More Intercepted Rebel Letters" "Rebel Officers Not to be Released on Parole" "Rebel Troops Leaving the Virginia Army" "The Rebel Army Refuses to Offer Battle" and more.
Four pages, never bound nor trimmed, a bit irregular at the blank margins, generally good condition.
